Myanmar Culture is the heart of the Myanmar people and it is reflected so very well by the artisans at Aung Nan – Myanmar Handicrafts Workshop.
The building doubles as both a sales shop and the artisans workshop. There is no pressure to buy anything.
Here you can see skilled wood workers carving intricate objects ranging from small animals to medium sized furniture items up to very large panels for houses. The level of detail in the carved images is so intricate and facinating.
Another group of artisans are making Mandalay’s famous wall hangings and tapestries, whilst others make embroidered pillow cases, table runners etc. The items are exquisite and the prices are very inexpensive considering the manual labour required to make the objects.
They also make traditional puppets and do ivory and jade carvings. The jade turtles are just so cute.
You will find something for everyone here from little momentos to massive ones.
If you are thinking of getting some souveniers to take home and like looking for a bargain then venture into and explore Aung Nan Myanmar Handicrafts Workshop, it is jam packed to the rafters with all sorts of goodies.
